Walters

Today I spent my last class at the Walters for Drawing from the Masters. This is a line study of a painting by Alfred-Emile Stevens called News From Afar.

Not So Self Portrait

This is a self portrait that I forgot I did about a month ago. I'm not really happy with it. I have a lot of trouble with portraits looking like who they are supposed to be. I guess this looks like me only much younger. I drew it in one sitting, which is usually not good for me when it comes to tricky subjects because I don't notice my mistakes or cannot recognize how to fix them. In this case, I can now see that the features are too big for the overall shape and size of the face. The more I look at it the more it frustrates me, so lets just say it is NOT a self portrait. There, I feel better about it already.

Drawing From the Masters

These are the two most recent assignments from my drawing class: a copy of a drawing by Van Gogh and a drawing copy of a watercolor by Carl Larsson.

Museum Sketches

These are some sketches from my Drawing From the Masters class from visits to museums (the Walters and the BMA).

Watercolor

I had an assignment for my Drawing from the Masters class to copy a work done in color so I chose a Winslow Homer watercolor. I was intrigued by his technique of applying watercolor opaquely so I attempted to do my own opaque watercolor of my dog Bandita.

Copies

Another set of masters' copies from Ingres, Rubens, and Rembrandt and two sketches of sculptures, one by Erastus Dow Palmer and the other by Hans Schuller.

Copies

These are four masters' copies from my Drawing from The Masters class. One is a line study of a Uglow painting, one is a tonal study of a work by Boucher, another is a line study of Raphael Sanzio's study of Michelangelo's David and the fourth is a tonal study of a painting by an artist that I actually cannot identify, so if anyone knows who it is, I'd love to know.
