This is a self portrait that I forgot I did about a month ago. I'm not really happy with it. I have a lot of trouble with portraits looking like who they are supposed to be. I guess this looks like me only much younger. I drew it in one sitting, which is usually not good for me when it comes to tricky subjects because I don't notice my mistakes or cannot recognize how to fix them. In this case, I can now see that the features are too big for the overall shape and size of the face. The more I look at it the more it frustrates me, so lets just say it is NOT a self portrait. There, I feel better about it already.
I can sympathize. I think you have your face shape and hair down, and I can see this really looking like you after you tweek it a bit. I really like it though! Is it charcoal or graphite?
ReplyDeleteI think it was charcoal pencil, though it was a bit waxier than charcoal. I doubt I'll go back into this one, but for next time, it's good to pay attention to what I got wrong here. Thanks for the feedback!
